There is no spot quite as picturesque in Atlanta as the Jackson Street Bridge. Taking a picture on this bridge in front of the beautiful Atlanta skyline is almost a rite of passage for any Atlantan.

Beyond the views, this 50+ year-old bridge has a rich history touting the power of the people. The Georgia Department of Transportation was going to have Interstate 75 go directly through historical and primarily Black neighborhoods like Sweet Auburn and Old Fourth Ward. While many were ultimately forced out of their homes, but some stayed and took the issue to court, which resulted in the construction of the iconic Jackson Street bridge. Take some time to not only enjoy the sights of the city, but to also appreciate the history, too.

Historical Tour

While visiting Jackson St. Bridge, why not make it a full historical tour? Around the area of the bridge begins part of the Martine Luther King Historic site. There is so much to learn about the history of Martin Luther King and Martin Luther King Jr. and the city of Atlanta, and our chauffeurs can take you from site to site so you can really soak it all in.

In addition to the historic museum, there is also the King Center, Martin Luther King Jr.’s house to visit, Ebenezer Baptist Church where MLK delivered his first sermon, and the Atlanta History Center. Take your tour bus rental over to Centennial Olympic Park for a nice lunch break and enjoy a picnic on the lawn while you soak in the sunshine and history of the park.

Oakland Cemetery

For a more morbid taste of history, the Oakland Cemetery was originally named ‘Atlanta Graveyard’ back in 1850. An original plot of six acres quickly expanded to 48 acres due to the need driven by the Civil War. After becoming a Historic Place according to the National Register in 1976, which attracted investors to take over the restoration and maintenance of the cemetery to where it is today. Free from being forgotten, the cemetery sees more than 100,000 people who come to visit and take a stroll through amongst the sleeping as they take in the history of not just the cemetery, but the city of Atlanta.

Swan House

If you are looking to add a bit of refinement to your tour bus rental, Atlanta’s Swan House offers a breath of class as you enter through its iconic blue doors. The house was built right on the tail end of the Jazz Age, meaning the house missed the Great Depression by the paint on its siding. Home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Emily Inman in 1928 and was constructed specifically with the goal of entertaining guests in mind. So, make your RSVP and soak in the gorgeous architecture and style throughout the grounds.
